Exposure of Juncus effusus to perfluoroalkyl acids

We investigated the uptake of seven perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) by J. effusus with different exposure time and concentrations of these compounds and evaluate the toxicity of PFAAs to this plant. Our goal is to use this plant to clean up water contaminated by PFAAs at low concentrations. The results of this study warrant further studies to evaluate the long-term performance of phytoremediation using J. effusus in a PFAAs contaminated environment.
